Teacher of MFL (German & French)
MPS / UPS – full time or part time, permanent
September 2025
We are seeking an academically driven and inspirational Teacher of MFL to join our high-achieving department. All three languages are taught through to A Level with high achievement at both GCSE and A Level and we are looking for a passionate linguist who can maintain and build on our success. The ability to teach German to A Level is a pre-requisite of this post.
Our dynamic department thrives on collaboration, with teachers bringing their own expertise and enthusiasm to their subjects. We value innovative teaching, the sharing of ideas and a commitment to fostering a love of languages in our students. To this end, a core principle of the department is to deliver lessons in the target language and pupils are encouraged to use the target language themselves in class. The successful candidate will join a well-established team that works closely together, ensuring excellence in teaching and learning through all the key stages.
Linguistic competitions, theatre trips and summer study programmes are ways in which we enhance and develop the experience of language learning for our students. We also have two long standing trips abroad: a residential trip for year 8 to Normandy and a German exchange for year 10 with a school just outside Frankfurt. Both of these trips are very popular and over-subscribed.
We have French, German and Spanish MLAs to assist with developing spontaneous conversation skills with our GCSE and A Level students.
The ideal candidate will be a teacher who can inspire and bring out the best in all our students. In addition to more experienced colleagues, this post is also suitable for ECTs. We welcome applications from candidates interested in either a full time or part time post – please stipulate your preference in your application.

Singing Peripatetic Teacher
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and talented Peripatetic Teacher of Singing to join our thriving Music Department from September 2026. The primary requirement will be to teach pupils of all abilities from Year 7 to Year 13 and be able to motivate and inspire young people in their music-making.
Hours of work will be dependent on the number of students wishing to study singing. We anticipate this to be in the region of one day per week initially. Ideally, this day would be a Thursday to align with our established extra-curricular programme, but we are happy to discuss this further.
The successful candidate will be expected to provide lessons on a one-to-one basis and act as director of ‘Big Heart & Soul Choir’ – our contemporary choir open to students in Years 10 to 13. Additionally, we ask all of our peripatetic staff to help us supporting and promoting the performance of pupils within the Music Department and the school.
This opportunity would suit a confident and highly motivated practitioner, with a range of musical talents and tastes, who is comfortable teaching singing in a range of styles, with particular strength in contemporary voice. You will normally have either several years’ experience of instrumental teaching with a suitable higher-level qualification, or be a vocal specialist with a music degree and be able to perform at an equivalent standard as a singer.
