Our Exam Results

2025 – Another fantastic year

Our students’ success continues to go from strength to strength putting our GCSE and A Level attainment in the top 5% nationally

7th in the South West

Nationally in 2025, BSG sits within the top 5% of UK schools for GCSE attainment (GCSE Grades), and amongst the best overall GCSE attainment in Dorset. We also are proud of the fact that students don’t just get high grades, but also make exceptional progress, with our school in the top 20% for progress from Key Stage 2 nationally.

The recent *Sunday Times Schools Guide 2024 (published December 2024), puts BSG in the top 7 State Schools in the South West  and in the top 100 nationally (out of approximately 3500 state secondary schools).

These impressive results are a testament to the effort and ambition of our students, supported by expert staff and our wider BSG Community.

The new GCSE grading system began in 2018 with Grades at GCSE given a number from 1 to 9. Grade 4/5 is equivalent to an old system Grade C, Grade 6 = B and Grade 7 = A.

The average grade in BSG at GCSE in 2025 was a 7.35 (the highest in BSG history!), in the old grade system that would be half way between a Grade A.

Below shows a table of the average grade in each GCSE subject studied at BSG.
