Parent and School Association
Bournemouth School for Girls Parent School Association is a registered charity, number 1013247 (England and Wales).
Bournemouth School for Girls is very lucky to have an active, supportive and effective Parent School Association (PSA). It is one of the school’s strengths and one of which we are very proud.
The Bournemouth School for Girls PSA is a registered charity, constituted under the Charities Commission and a member of ParentKind, the national body that supports and represents parent and teacher associations across the United Kingdom.
The PSA is always seeking (and warmly welcomes) enthusiastic parents with fresh ideas to attend our informal meetings, which tend to be once every ½ term. PSA meetings are an opportunity for parents, carers and friends of the school to meet, make new friends and come together to discuss fundraising for the school. You do not need to hold an elected position to attend and you will not be roped in to help at an event if you are not able to.
We notify parents via our PSA mailing list of upcoming informal meetings. To join this mailing list please click here. For the next meeting date please see our calendar (below) or email psa@bsg.bournemouth.sch.uk for further information. There is no obligation to sign up to anything further.
The future of our PSA, and the fundraising we achieve year after year, is only possible through the continued involvement of our parent and staff community.
Each year, as students move through the school and families eventually move on, so too do the dedicated volunteers who have given their time to make the PSA what it is. Sustaining everything we do depends on parents stepping forward to take on those roles as they become available, and we want to make that as straightforward as possible.
We understand that titles such as Chair, Vice-Chair, or Events Manager can sound daunting. They can conjure images of late nights and an open-ended commitment that few of us feel we can make alongside busy family and working lives. The reality is very different. With the right support and a shared workload, these roles require far less time than you might expect and is the reason why we have restructured the PSA committee. We have deliberately spread responsibility across a greater number of roles, ensuring that no one person carries too much, and that every contribution, however large or small, is formally recognised. Whether your involvement looks like being present at events or quietly supporting the PSA from home through administration and coordination, it all matters. Every role directly contributes to our fundraising capacity.
Our Mission
The PSA exists to strengthen the relationship between parents, carers, and staff, and to support the school in providing the best possible environment for its students. We work in partnership with the school to enhance the educational experience at BSG in two principal ways.
Enrichment and investment. Funds raised by the PSA are directed towards enrichment activities that extend student learning beyond the curriculum, and towards improvements to the school’s learning spaces and facilities. Our aim is to ensure that every girl at BSG has access to opportunities and environments that inspire and support her development.
Community and events. The PSA organises a programme of events throughout the school year, including our annual Christmas Fayre, welcome events for new families, and a range of social and fundraising activities, which bring together the wider BSG community and generate the funds that make our work possible.
If you can help at any of these events in any capacity, whether that is from behind the scenes with administrative tasks, pre-event preparations such as shopping or decorating (where applicable) or volunteering to help at the event, please consider coming along to the next meeting.

We encourage you to take an active interest in it because as a registered charity we provide valuable support to the school as our past purchases demonstrate – the Sixth Form café and common room refurbishment to the school gym equipment, the baby grand piano, hall projector, the fantastic Caterpod and outside seating to name but a few…..
