Tobias Ellwood MP visits Politics Students

Visit of Tobias Ellwood MP to talk to Year 12 and Year 13 Politics

On Friday 20th January, our A Level Politics students had the privilege of talking to the Bournemouth East Conservative MP Tobias Ellwood. He has been our MP since 2005 and has since formed a close relationship with BSG. Initially Mr. Ellwood shared the story of how he first moved into politics after working as a soldier in the army, and the military experience this gave him. It provided him the expertise to eventually work as chair of the defence select committee in parliament which gave him the platform to inform on decisions regarding Ukraine and other military affairs.

He shared this experience, and his views on the country as it is today, which was a great first-hand opportunity for the potential ‘future of politics’ sitting in front of him. Students had the opportunity to ask a range of journalistic-style questions, which he answered honestly and wholly, sharing opinions on a broad range of subjects such as the EU, immigration and even BSG itself. Overall, this experience provided key, direct knowledge to Politics students on areas surrounding their course as well as current political events.
