PPE station
Safety glasses, over-glasses, gloves, hearing protection and clear storage so PPE is easy to find and use.
Safety, PPE, training and professional engineering standards
Project Beacon keeps ReBourne Robotics safe, visible and ready to operate at professional engineering standards. It funds PPE, first aid, safety signage, tool training systems, battery safety materials, storage and the procedures that allow students to work confidently with real tools and large-scale robots. This mission can be supported as a core launch package or as a fuller safety and training system.
For people new to FRC: students work with metal, batteries, tools, mechanisms and robots far larger than normal school robotics kits. Safety has to be built into the team culture from the beginning.
Project Beacon gives ReBourne the systems to train students properly, protect students and visitors, manage risk, respond to minor incidents and create a workshop culture where girls can build confidently and safely.
Project Beacon is about more than buying safety glasses. It creates a visible, repeatable system for safe student engineering.
Safety glasses, over-glasses, gloves, hearing protection and clear storage so PPE is easy to find and use.
Workshop and travel first aid kits, eye wash supplies, burn care and a clear reporting process.
Tool training records, student sign-off, safe systems of work and role-specific expectations.
Clear visual reminders for safety glasses, battery areas, no food/drink, trip hazards and emergency procedures.
Storage for blades, chemicals, lubricants, batteries and workshop materials so the pit remains organised and safe.
Checklists for pit opening, robot work, battery handling, tool use and packing away.
These are example or comparable items from reputable UK suppliers. Final purchases should align with BSG’s health and safety processes, risk assessments and any venue/event requirements.

Project Beacon helps students use real tools and materials with clear expectations, visible systems and responsible independence.
Students learn that engineering spaces are manageable, structured and open to them when safety is taught properly.
Students practise the habits used in real technical workplaces: preparation, PPE, checks, reporting and care for others.
A strong safety culture allows students to take on more meaningful technical work because the systems around them are clear.
The goal is a team where students understand safety as part of engineering quality.
Create PPE stations, first aid storage, signage and safety documentation before build work scales up.
Introduce student tool training, battery handling, robot movement protocols and workshop expectations.
Embed safety checklists into every build session, pit setup, transport day and competition event.
Update the system as the robot, team, tools and competition experience develop.
