Team Ultraviolet Selected to Represent Great Britain at FIRST Global Competition
We are thrilled to announce that Team Ultraviolet, the all-girls robotics team from Bournemouth School for Girls, has been selected to represent Great Britain at the prestigious FIRST Global robotics competition in Athens, Greece this September. This marks a significant milestone as they are the first all-girls team to achieve this honour.

Journey and Achievements:
Team Ultraviolet’s journey has been remarkable. Their hard work and dedication over the past two years culminated in their victory at the FIRST Tech Challenge UK Championship in Cambridge this June, where they received the esteemed National Inspire Award. This accolade is a testament to their exceptional skills and commitment to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths).
About FIRST Global:
The FIRST Global ‘Feeding the Future’ Robotics Challenge brings together youth teams from over 190 countries. This competition aims to inspire young minds to tackle global issues through innovation and collaboration. The event will be held from 26th to 29th September in Athens, and it promotes unity, learning, and the exchange of ideas among the world’s brightest young innovators.
Our Team’s Mission:
Team Great Britain is not just focused on robotics; they are committed to being influential ambassadors for the UK. They see this competition as an opportunity to build bridges with other nations, inspire young women and girls in STEM, and showcase the power of collaboration. Their participation underscores the importance of diversity and inclusion in STEM fields. Five students from this year’s FTC team will represent the UK in Greece.
