ULTRAVIOLET are the UK Champions 2024

We are thrilled to announce that Team Ultraviolet has won the prestigious FIRST Tech Challenge UK National Inspire Award 2024! This award is the highest honour a team can achieve in the competition, recognising not only excellence in robot design and performance but also outstanding community outreach and team spirit. Therefore in just their second year they’ve become National Champions – the first all-girl team to do so in the UK.

To top this off they also came 2nd place in the robot game this season – becoming Finalist Alliance Championship winners. Therefore coming home with two of the biggest National Awards.

This year’s journey has been incredible, filled with innovation, perseverance, and teamwork from our students.

Throughout the season, the team faced numerous challenges, from design iterations to perfecting our autonomous algorithms, but we overcame them with determination and collaboration. Their efforts were not just limited to building a winning robot; they also made significant contributions to our community and the wider FIRST community. Our STEM outreach programs, including UVRAISE, have inspired and engaged hundreds of young minds across the region.

Winning the Inspire Award is a testament to their hard work, dedication, and the unwavering support from their mentors, sponsors, and the entire FIRST UK community. Thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey. We look forward to continuing our mission to inspire and innovate.

The team have been followed by a BBC Film Crew before and during the championship.

Stay tuned for more updates on a BBC programme coming out soon to see their amazing journey and work they put into this amazing competition.

Thank you to all our sponsors and partners for helping enable this success.
